Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. DeWitt County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept long enough to prepare and deliver a response. We keep such messages within our organization and do not disclose them outside it unless the law requires disclosure.
Information Collected Automatically

No Criminal Records Database
DeWitt County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Its general reference material identifies official access routes, including the DeWitt County Sheriff's Office, the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, and the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry. The website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information collected about a visitor is not compiled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a search tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices. Review the applicable policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to DeWitt County offices, Illinois court portals, state agencies, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. After leaving this website, the destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may follow activity across websites to select targeted advertisements. Their systems, not ours, perform that tracking.
